Motoko (23 years old), a graduate student, is nicknamed “Mr. Schwarz”, which means black in German, because of her plain inner and outer appearance. He confesses his feelings to Sakaki (64 years old), a professor of German literature whom he admires, but he declares that it was a misunderstanding… Is this “preference” or “love”? An age difference story that explores the definition of love.
