小さな子猫がお母さん猫の見ていない間に、ひとりで家の外へとびだしました。外には危険なものがいっぱい。子どもに捕まりそうになったり、車にひかれそうになったり、大きな犬に追いかけられたり。その度に危機一髪で難を逃れるます。とうとう追いつめられて鳴いていると、お母さん猫は子猫の声を遠くからでも聞きつけてちゃんと探してくれました。お母さん猫はしっかりと子猫をくわえて家へ帰って行きます。
